two cast members struggle with each other

Sarah, born into substance abuse, prostitution and poverty, barely survives the foster care system and adopts the name of Moll Flanders when she becomes a teenage sex worker. Like the protagonist in Defoes novel, she strives to rise above her circumstances, but is thwarted by the efforts of brothel proprietress, Dahlia. Her lovers, Jenny, and then James, give Moll a fighting chance to finish her education, find a home and form a family. The odds are against her, but, in the end, with the help of her foster sister, Katie, she succeeds.
