Sheridan hosts Live Viewing of the 2017 Tony Award Nominations

The extended Sheridan community will gather together to learn if the CMTP developed musical, Come From Away, will be nominated for a 2017 Tony Award, including Best Musical.

Sheridan is proud to be part of this exciting season on Broadway, and to be one of the only post-secondary institutions to reach this milestone. Sheridan’s Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance students were the first to bring the show’s characters to life when the musical was workshopped at Sheridan in 2012 and 2013. Alumni are also connected to this Broadway season with Susan Dunstan, class of 1995, lending her talent as a standby for Come From Away, and Kimberly-Ann Truong making her Broadway debut in the revival of Miss Saigon.

Hosted by Marc Richard, Program Coordinator of the Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance program at Sheridan, the itinerary for the event includes a video link with Michael Rubinoff, CMTP Producer and Sheridan’s Associate Dean, Visual and Performing Arts, who will join us from Gander, Newfoundland; a performance from Rumspringa Break! An Am-ish Musical, workshopped by the CMTP in 2016; and, the live viewing of the Tony Award nominations broadcasting live on CBS at 8:30 am.

The event is taking place at The Marquee, Sheridan’s Oakville campus student pub. Doors open at 8:00 am with coffee and pastries being served.
