Bringing the best in the business to Sheridan is an ongoing goal of the Canadian Music Theatre Project. Moll gave our students the opportunity to work with legendary Canadian composer Leslie Arden, turning their workshop into a month-long master class.
Sarah, born into substance abuse, prostitution and poverty, barely survives the foster care system and adopts the name of Moll Flanders when she becomes a teenage sex worker. Like the protagonist in Defoe’s novel, she strives to rise above her circumstances, but is thwarted by the efforts of brothel proprietress, Dahlia. Her lovers, Jenny, and then James, give Moll a fighting chance to finish her education, find a home and form a family. The odds are against her, but, in the end, with the help of her foster sister, Katie, she succeeds.
